Nylon VS Polyester Which should I Purchase

This is a question that I am asked often but not often enough.
Some customers but most do not know the pro's and con's of each materials. Lets start with Nylons. Nylon is a synthetic product invented by DuPont in 1935 and marketed their brand called
Stain master. Stain Master is a brilliant marketing name for the fiber. It caught the attention of millions of buyers throughout the years. Stain Master is in the category of what is called branded nylons. Branded nylons are the most expensive synthetic fibers you can buy. Next unbranded nylons. These are nylons produced by the carpet companies themselves. They are equally good but are much less expensive. Nylon is not naturally stain resistant and needs to have a stain resister added to the process. Incidentally DuPont sold off its Stain Master product and now produces a product called Triexta which is a PTT Fiber sold exclusively to Mohawk in the manufacturing of their Sorona SmartStrand product line. http://www.bloomfieldcarpetandtile.com/smartstrand-2/
Now Polyesters. They have come a long way. PET polyester is made mostly from recycled plastic bottles and here is why.
Have you ever seen a stain on the inside of a Coke bottle ? Never.
Coke will stain everything and can even clean your car engine.
This is why the carpet manufacturers use them. Polyester is plastic.
Polyester is naturally stain resistant and after the carpet companies add their own stain resistance Like Shaws R2X http://www.bloomfieldcarpetandtile.com/r2x-stain-soil-resi…/
Stains can easily be cleaned. Now there is no right answer to what to purchase. Every single job is different. Needs are different. Situations are different. We will ask you many questions to put you in the right fiber and carpet to make your purchase the best one possible.
